This project took longer than even I figured.
1996 Ranger, straight cab, long bed. Donor, 1999 Mountaineer. Both A/T 2 wheel drive.
I made plates, Used factory 3.0 mounts. The 8.8 rear is installed Complete with 1996 4x4 shocks. All sway bar and traction aids bolted up.
I lifted the engine 1” on the plates to help clear Passenger side I beam, figuring to lift the cab/bed to make it fit easier.
I believe I have the different fuel pressure issue taken care of by mounting the ‘99 pump to the ‘96 hanger.
I separated engine and trans, new oil pan gasket and rear seal, new trans filter and installed drain plug.

My questions are (1) the Ranger drive shaft is longer than Mounty, but it appears If I move the yoke over it will be 2” shorter going in tranny, is this a problem? The original Mounty went in 4”. I would have to go junkyard hunting.

I have to wire in the VSS from back of trans.
I have the cab off the truck and it looks like I am as far back as I should try to be without hitting the firewall.
Does it look like I have forgot something major?
Still have to deal with PATS or reflash PCM.
A/C will have to wait a little while.
