I wanna spend around $350-$400 on a sound system for my truck but I have no idea on even where to start. I know the sub itself has got to be small because of the minimal amount of room regular cabs have behind the seat.

My question is to you guys that know a lot more about trucks and audio systems than me is, if you had $400 to spend on a system and you want to have the "whole nine yards" of a system what products would you reccommend I buy that would fit my 07' Regular Cab Ranger and my budget?

I wish I had more to spend but I'm tight on cash at the moment. If you could make up a list for me at or around $400 that would be sik. Basically I'm a newbie but I'm here to learn. Please help me get a system guys.

First off what do you currently have in your truck? Also, are you looking for just a sub and amp or are you looking for headunit and door speakers?

if your 07 is completely stock i would add a sub. It will be the most notible thing you can do to it. You should be able to fit a small 10, or some 8in subs behind the seat. My recommendation is to go with a 10. I have two 8in subs and they are weak. Since i work in car audio i am very bias to the brands i know are good. I avoid wall mart you can get a better product for the same prices at a local shop if you try. I am a huge fan of the JL 10w1 i use those subs a lot. They are super efficient and they sound great. They dont need much power witch means you dont have to drop a huge wad of cash on an amp. I would start there. You should be able to get the sub amp and a box for around 300. That means you can also get some door speakers. Your factory deck can run everything, but you will need to get a high level converter to send signal to the amp. A system like that will not break your wallet and it will sound great. If you are a DIY person put up a post and i will give you your wire colors for your truck so you can hook it up correctly.

Thanks for the reply.

What would you reccomend for a 10", amp, box, door speakers in my price range? Do you highly reccomend getting a higl level converter?

Thanks bro.

thats about $250 so far. your better off having a box made for the sub locally. or you can try to build one yourself. youll still need an amp kit, speaker wire and the high level convertor. it might take you a little over $400, but thats some of the best new gear with limited time to look.

if you intend to use your stock radio i highly reckmond a high level converter. It is best to put the converter behind the deck because if you add an after market deck later your RCA's are already were they need to be. As far as a sub like i said i am a big fan of JL's 10w1. Also kicker comps are well made, and require little space. There are many more options that are very good, but i sell JL, and Kicker allot at work, so i lean towards them allot. I know Alpine has the type E 10 witch is a little on the deep side, but a good woofer. You can get the Kicker fairly cheep. And kicker allows online sales, so you still get a waranty, and technical support. As far as amps you could use a 2-ch somthing with about 150 to 200 watts for a little 10 you should not need much power. I would buy from Kicker, Rockford, MTX, Alpine, Memphis, or Kenwood. All those companies sell amps in that power range. I really like the kicker 200.2 and the 150.2. For speakers Again Kicker Rockford, MTX, Alpine, Memphis, and Kenwood all make a nice simple 6x8 or 5x7 that would work well in your truck. If it were me putting the system in my truck i would do a 10 kicker comp, a kicker 200.2, and memphis speakers. Im not saying its the best its just my opinion. Beacuse i do this every day i will say that if you have any hesitation about doing the work on you own ask a profetional. Many shops will give out information if you ask nicely. Most shops will try to tell you that you need them to do it beacuse its too hard. i will go against everything that i have been trained, and say that your truck is not hard. Basic tool skills will get you through. Lastley a box, and wire. If you feel up to building a box do it. Its fun, If buying one is the only option spend the money on a decent box, dont get the walmart box they suck. as for wire a simple $40 kit should work. Dont buy a cheap $20 kit, and you wont have a big enough amp to need a 4 awg kit. A 10awg to 8awg kit should do fine. Good luck, and have fun.
