What is the sensor located on the oil pan of a 1989 V6 2.9L Ford Ranger pickup?

Drivers side of the oil pan. Looks like a large nut with a wire coming out of it. Should be able to see it above the frame cross member.

S-

oil level sensor for a light on the dash. illuminates the light when a little over 1 quart low. common location for oil leaks. there is a gasket or o-ring under the sensor that can be replaced.

Thanks for the replies, y'all. Parts store says it shouldn't be there for 89 model...........doh
