Hey TRS. i just got a 2000 ford ranger with a 98 5.0L explorer in it. when i put it in park it rolls for a couple of seconds then it stops. could you guys give me some suggestions what could be going on?

sincerely,

My last truck, and my grandas car roll slightly as well, both are automatics.

As far as I can figure, "park" gear isnt a 100% snug fit and I'm guessing there is space for a little more rotation, hence the rolling forward a few inches.

It should also be noted that (while most people don't do this) you're still supposed to use the e-brake (which is really a parking brake) when you park an automatic because you've got the whole weight of the vehicle being held in place by the park gear, which puts stress on it.

the person i got this from i think didnt use the e-brake. so im afarid that if i pull it, it will eithor get stuck or it will break.
