My Thermostat housing is leaking Coolant, even with RTV Sealant, and a new thermo stat and o ring. The housing is also pitted. Help?

depends on how bad the pits are.. can you sand it down some? i had to mine..

if its to bad, replace it... sounds like a JY run time to me!

I would be kind of lost on my Ranger without this place, yes i said place, its not just a website to me its a place.
 
remove it and sand it clean, then wash it off with water and blow it dry. apply a layer of RTV to the housing AND the engine and install a new o-ring or gasket.

then assemble it and let it dry for at least an hour. do NOT let any coolant or water come in contact with the RTV or it won't be able to form a seal. so i recommend removing as much coolant as possible and completely drying all the mating surfaces
