I would get a cool muffler for your ranger while your at it on your escort.

or you could just turbo it then you dont have to worry about backpressure or mufflers but thats my fix for everythin (blown head gasket... put boost on it... boost fixes everything) even your gear in the rear put boost on it you wont care about the gear

There is actually this stuff called Muffler Cement. You put it between the joints and then clamp it, stuff cures solid with the heat from the exhaust. I've used it for everything, even to seal up the holes where I cut open my cats!
