question for you doorless guys

"Razzin" is what comes out of a hillbilly's bong.

I'm just givin Mike a hard time lol

i umplugged the switch, i got pulled over and he said some other ppl on the force or other areas will pul you over, he didnt give me a warning just said i should put them on. it was nice that he nicely told me some will give me a ticket just cuz they can. i tossed them back on.....it aint worth the bs for a ticket. half doors soon:headbang:

What exactly did he tell you the problem was? On CO4x4, they've discussed the doors issue many times with the XJs, and as far as I recall, there is no law stating you have to have doors in CO. And I would suggest you not listen to the guys here for the legality of the situation, UNLESS they know CO law. These kind of laws vary state to state, and CO4x4 is going to be your best source for the laws on this.

The only possible exception, is Denver proper. Otherwise, no doors should be no issue.

edit: Just looked up the CO vehicle code
Mirrors:
(1) Every motor vehicle shall be equipped with a mirror or mirrors so located and so constructed as to reflect to the driver a free and unobstructed view of the highway for a distance of at least two hundred feet to the rear of such vehicle.

(2) Whenever any motor vehicle is not equipped with a rear window and rear side windows or has a rear window and rear side windows composed of, covered by, or treated with any material or component which, when viewed from the position of the driver, obstructs the rear view of the driver or makes such window or windows nontransparent, or whenever any motor vehicle is towing another vehicle or trailer or carrying any load or cargo or object which obstructs the rear view of the driver, such vehicle shall be equipped with an exterior mirror on each side so located with respect to the position of the driver as to comply with the visual requirement of subsection (1) of this section. This subsection (2) shall not apply to neighborhood electric vehicles.

(3) Any person who violates any provision of this section commits a class B traffic infraction.

No references to doors at all. So the issue is simply not addressed, which means it is NOT illegal.

You realize though that, that is talking about mirrors, not doors. The mirror law doesn't really effect doors other than the fact that if you don't have doors, you probably don't have side mirrors either.

i had mirrors i used some from my grandpa and i made a mount AND bolted them to the top door hinge:headbang:

Ticket

No, but I have gotten bitched out for having fogged tail lights, a wicked crack in my winshield, no front license plate, over loading my bed, and having no side mirrors.

Stop by checkers or autozone or what ever and get a set of clamp on mirrors. They're like ten or twelve bucks a piece. Cheaper then a fix-it ticket.

As long as shit doesn't fly out, and you're wearing your seat belt you shouldn't have an issue.

I got a ticket once for no inside RV mirror in my dune buggy years ago and the buggy had NO TOP!!! :thefinger:

Since I made the word mirror bold, yea, I think I know what it's talking about. And I specifically said that DOORS are NOT addressed in the CO vehicle code. I put the mirrors law there, because it is frequently associated with the no doors thing.

The best possible advice I can give, is walk into your nearest police station, and ask them outright if having no doors is a problem. If they tell you it is illegal, ask them specifically what code it falls under(the code number). If they can't give it to you, they are full of shit. If they give you a number, look it up, and read it all the way through.

Example:

In IL, many people, including many police officers, believe riding in the bed of a pickup is illegal. In the IL vehicle code, it is not addressed ANYWHERE. I even asked my local PD about it, they told me it was illegal, but couldn't give me the vehicle code it falls under. So I read through the whole damn vehicle code, and it isn't in there. The only way it is illegal, is if there is a child in the bed, because children need a seat belt, no matter where in the vehicle they are. Adults only need a belt in the front seat.

im glad my Bronco II is registered in Oklahoma, it will soon be running, and the doors will soon be removed, so really don't care what Wyoming or Colorado say, i know its legal in Oklahoma see xj running around back home all the time door less, just gotta have mirrors

doorless

I considered going doorless but can do it only in the spring and fall. Need my heater in the winter and my A/C in the summer and I use the truck 90% off road.

My choice was pretty easy. The truck didn't come with A/C, and the back window was busted out by the previous owner. Removing the doors just seemed the logical choice. :D

XJ's also have a lip at the bottom. I'll take half doors any day. At least you get some protection from things on the trail and it's a part of the body you can beat up and not care about.

Imagine this..

Your riding on the trails.. and all the sudden a crazy rabid tiger jumps into your truck through your little tube door! Now don't you wish he would have just went SMACK against a locked regular door?

Now replace trails with streets and tiger with car jacker. I actually made a valid point.
