Question for People with Roof Racks

I thought about one of those but we have a lot of clearance problems in the woods.Another thing to bring up is if the lights are that far back on the roof I would think you would have a bad shadow problem in the projection of the lights.

thought about the light issue to... b/c my rack would only be above the rear glass

Could always just not mount lights up top... If the cage is gonna get whacked by overhead crap, I couldn't imagine lights fairing too nicely either.

you can't just not have lights on a roof rack! lol...j/k
i just don't think i'm gonna fool with it b/c i want the trailer and have a hitch basket

do you ever regret mounting it up there?

i'm debating on doing a basket rack on my b2, i love the look of it but don't really need the extra space for anything other than hi-lift and lights...

the hi-lift can be incorporated into the swing out tire carrier i ain't built yet, as for lights.. i might do a cowl mount or something..

i've talked to a few people and they wish they never did drill the holes in the top of their bronco or whatever they own.. it causes clearance issues on the trails, cog issues, car wash issues and so on...

what do yall think?

Some can be permantly mounted but Thule and Yakima have removable roof racks and cargo baskets that leave no holes....so it is no big deal, Bro.

This is my Yakima with the Yakima Basketcase. I have a Yakima fairing as well that helps wind resistance and noise. It is very quite. It will support 150 lbs with no issues. It is all removable. I leave it in place and use it several times a month when we go places with the truck.

nothing would be completely removable for me without leaving holes.. unless it hooked with suction cups! lol

i'm thinking that b/c i wouldn't use it for the extra space- and i've already kinda figured out how to get around the lights and hi-lift w/o it... i don't need it. i figured i could use a hitch basket for extra space if i needed it. and with my plans for

for camping reasons... i think i'm gonna leave my roof nice and smooth

I very seldom like trailers but that one is nice. This is the one I sold before Christmas last year. I was going to add a cover to it but three years later I sold it. Sorry about the cell phone photos:

I had a Yakima roof rack on my 89 BII and it looked great and was really nice for a lot of things!!!! I added the Warrior style basket and that was really neat!!!

i just want the trailer.. and don't see the need for both... i'd like to have a covered area on the trailer to, but i want the ability to carry my big bear 4wheeler for when i camp and hunt. i'd be using the trailer year around that way.

my parents have an RV but i always take a tent and stuff.. and the place we camp has some 4wheeler trails nearby so..

i'd do a smaller trailer like straycat showed but a 4 wheeler won't fit.

No, too small for a 4wheeler. It was 5.5 ft long and only 4.6 ft wide. It was a neat light weight trailer that towed so good. The best small trailer I ever owned. I used it for hauling bags of rock and bags of mulch. I put extra camping gear and supplies in it when we went camping. I don't have much room in the bed with the spare 33x12.5 KO and the customised bed extender I modified to fit the bed with the spare:
