QUESTION: doing a gauge swap

I have a 1998 Ford ranger XLT 2WD with a 4.0 and automatic. It did not come with a tachometer from the factory.

Is the IP cluster from a similar year ranger plug and play or is a major nightmare to make the tachometer from a doner truck integrated?

Secondly I really prefer the gauge cluster out of a 2003 ranger specifically or and Ford Explorer SPORT, which have the contrasting white/grey faced gauges. Are these plug and play?

Finally, if it is not a major nightmare to make all this work, is there a company or person that could set the new cluster to the same mileage as the one currently in the truck?

You can install a cluster from a '95-'03 Ranger or a '95-'01 Explorer. They are all plug and play installs.

Does anyone know of someone that recalibrates the odometers?

For that you will have to get yourself a PCM reflash or a SCT XCalibrator 2.

The '04+ speedometer cluster has completely revamped electronics. The odometer and trip odometer are digital. The '04+ Ranger's cluster will NOT work in a '03 or older Ranger.
