I'm doing a entire drive train swap, from 60's to a np435 and 205, but i'm keeping the stock 4.0 motor. I talked to a guy at advance adapters and he said that the only thing he was concerned with was the mounting of the starter. He said they could make an adapter to the 435 to an older 2.8l v6 5speed bell housing cause the toyo kogo and mitsubishi transmissions had removable bellhousings. I cant use a 435 bellhousing cause of tunnel clearance, and he said that the older bellhousings from the earlier ranger trannies would bolt up to my 4.0. Like i said the only thing he was worried about was bolting a 94 starter up to the older 85 and below bellhousing. Are the starter holes the same or what do I need to do if they are not. This is the only thing preventing me from gettin my swap under way so I need some replies guys, thanks in advance.
