today i was recovering refrigerant from a car and the machine was in the clear lines phase and the moister indicator started filling up with some white milky looking stuff. it seems to be liquid. i shut the valves off and stopped before it started recovering, but i looked at the flow diagram for the machine and it would have gotten into the tank no matter what i did.

what i need to know is if anyone else has seen this stuff and knows what it is and if its miscable with r-134

the reason i ask is because the tank is full of new r-134 and my boss doesn't want to waste it if possible.

i already have to take the whole machine apart and flush the system out and if i have to i'll be draining the tank and cleaning inside of it

another question. does anyone know if i can use the recycle function of the machine to just filter this shit out? we can sacrifice a filter if we need to

edit: just thought i'd add that the car i was recovering from had a plugged up system, the low side sucked into a vacuum while the high side went 250psi+

the machine is a robinair 34700 and i haven't found info using google

could just be contaminated oil and probably wouldn't have made it to the tank if you didnt start to recover it yet. but there is the possibility of there being leak sealer wich thickens and hardens with contact with air.I guess you dont have a refridge identifier either.

no identifier. boss is too cheap.

i ran the machine on recycle mode for 8hrs straight and drained about 2cups of this white stuff. the sight glass is clear now so i guess im going to have to change the filter and call it good
