Hello all, so I have seen articles about replacing the bulbs in the instrument cluster in my 99 XLT. I have had at least one bulb go out, and figure if I am replacing one I will do them all. I want to get the LED lights so that I can actually see my instruments in the dark. The standard bulbs are just ok at best. Can anyone give me a link to where I can get those products, and also what size lights do I need, I know there are 2 different sizes. Thanks for any info!!!

Also on a sideline, the headlights are not the brightest I have ever seen. I have seen the LED headlights also, does anyone out there have any info if those are worth a damn? Again thanks, hope you all on this site are doing well, I appreciate the input!!!

Most year Rangers use #194 bulbs for back light on instrument cluster, there are 6
And #74 bulbs for warning light likes check engine or brake or ABS, ect.............

Yes, you can use LEDs but many have a + and - side, and won't work if reversed, doesn't hurt the LED just won't light up
So after LEDS are in plug cluster back in and turn on back lights, make sure all 6 are working, if one is not then reverse it

Regular bulbs don't have a + and - side

Just Google: Ford Ranger LED head lights, quite a few to choose from

I would also suggest not going with the cheapest LED you can find. I’ve had some cheap ones that fail prematurely and I had two cheap tail light bulbs literally burn. Have a picture of the burned and melted bulb somewhere. Thankfully the sockets only suffered a little scorching.

I had put an LED headlight set in my one Ranger that claimed to have both high and low, but there was no difference in the brightness of the beam in either setting. I have another, different brand set to try when I get the truck back together. My F-150 I run Silverstar bulbs for the headlights. Not LED, but they are definitely bright. Plow lights are Silverstar too. If I can’t find a decent LED bulb for the Ranger soon it’s going to get Silverstars.

Hello and thanks for that information. I will definitely look for some of the better quality headlights on your advice. Thanks again.
