OK So I'm starting the d44/50 hybrid, As of now I placed a drain plug in the diff. case. but my question is what is the best way to do the c-clip eliimantion. is it easier to place the spring inside the slip joint and weld the cap on, or get the spring to go on the outside of the shaft. this will be going into my 87 ranger when done, Yes I know go sas, but living in AZ I have both prerunner high speed desert trails, and mountain rocky trails, so I would like to build a truck that is moderate in both areas.

how do you keep the spring in place without it sliding down.

With the boot over it, the boot clamps hold it in place.
