Put in park with wheels spinning

Hello, My differential is bent where wheel connects, so i had car jacked up and had engine idling in drive.
Anyways without thinking i put the trans in park and it squealed,
DO you think my transmission will be ok?

If it still holds while in park then you're fine. If you can spin it now while in park, aka it acts like neutral then you snapped the parking pawl off and... $$$....

I seriously doubt that little amount of force of the wheels spinning in the air is enough to snap it.

Yes, it will be fine

Park is not "in" the transmission, its at the back/rear and uses a Parking pawl to hold a toothed ring attached to output shaft

As said above if Park still holds then all is well

GOod to hear, wont have truck back on ground for awhile, it obviously spins while in park and jacked up but i read thats normal?

What happen is the other day the truck spun out on icy bridge and driver side slammed into curb, my back wheel is very wobbly, diagnoused bent axle with car on jacks and engine running in drive (then i accidentally put in park) Axle is bent so i will need to replace it before i put it back down and test park

If in park with both wheels off the ground it is normal... if the wheels spin opposite of each other. If you spin the driver side counterclockwise from the drivers tire the other wheel should spin clockwise. A limited slip will add varying degrees of difficulty depending on how fresh it is.

One wheel off the ground in park and it spins, you have issues with your park pawl.

Only okish way to test park is with one wheel on the ground, really the only way is to test it on a hill.

if you spin one wheel while it is in park the other wheel should spin the oposite direction. (normal working of the spider gears)

you should *not* be able to spin both wheels in the same direction.

Sounds like you’ll be fine, but I checked your deleted post... you need to do something about that leaking wheel cylinder.

Does anyone know what this is that my pliers are touching, the rubber cap with metal center came off of it and it’s now leakingView attachment 55374

If you pressed on the brake pedal while the brake components weren't installed, you popped one side of the wheel cylinder out. The rubber piece and the metal rod most likely can be put back in and once everything is back together bleed the lines. If it was leaking before it popped then replace the wheel cylinder

Hopefully not, but it's likely the axle tube is bent as well, based on your description. You'll know soon enough if you can't keep a bearing or seal in it.
