ok so i was dumb and left my keys on my moms truck and then drove around town and now cant find them so i need to hook up a push button but i gotta be able to use the head lights to. so what i was wonderin does anyone got the wiring diagram for a 92 eddie bauer expo i need to know what wires i goot hook the switches to

I see two problems with this idea right off the bat. One is easy, the other is not.

1st: Push botton will not keep it in run. It will only keep it in crank. You will need a toggle switch to keep it in run.

2nd: Steering wheel lock? You just gonna drive straight all the time?

Drill the lock cylinder out and just use a screw driver to start it.

There is another option as well. Start combing junk yards for ignition keys. There were only about 8 tooth arrangements, if you can collect 36 ignition keys from gen 1 Explorers odds are pretty good that you will have at least one that will turn the lock.

its a brand new ignition in it and the key code was on the key ring so i cant make a new one this really sucks since i just got it

Hit up the junk yards. Even the after market ones use the same 8 teeth.

ok so i just bought a new one cause our jy only have a total of 4 expos without keys so now i need to know how to get this one out without the keys anyone know?

IIRC, the code is on a sticker on some of the new tumblers. Any chance yours is?

I had two 91 Explorers. They both used the same key.

My auto prof from college had a Taurus that used the same door key as his car. He used the first time he locked his keys in his car after he started teaching there as a story to lead up to the key thing. He had 8 cars that used the same lock cylinder in the program's pool. Just started trying keys until one opened his door.

I think you can get it with a little pick (same like my F150). There's a hole on the bottom that you insert the pick into. You have to remove the covers.

Widen the search. They are all the same key blank too, so it doesn't even really need to be an Explorer, just one of the old style keys.

I am not sure about getting it out without the keys. I might be able to just cut up one of each for you, if we have the templates at work. I do need to practice key-cutting.

I honestly don't know off the top of my head. Cost of 8 key blanks plus shipping, but I don't even know if we have the templates to cut keys that old without the originals. I have to check on that.

It would easily be into next week until you would have them. I leave early tomorrow, have to be out right on time Thursday, which means Friday would probably be the earliest I could cut them.

You might try checking around local hardware stores or locksmiths as well, see if they can help you faster.

I found these pics over on Explorer Forum. Hopefully they help.

well got it out tore up the aluminium casing around it and i cant get the original lock cylindar back in so i think the new one will still work

One of my friends has an explorer that my 92's original key works for his... same with a early 90's ranger in the area (he doesn't know that tho...lol).

You can probably have a locksmith make a key for it...
