Is this possible?

I was wanting to do this because I leave the key in it all the time anyway and the doors don't even lock so no lectures on security please.

Ive done a few wiring projects and I just was wondering whats a really basic wiring diagram for this? Ranger specifically. Wire colors would be great too.

Any ideas or help would be great.

there are usually only 2 wires for a push button (momentary) switch. one from the fused power line, and one to the thing you're powering. in this case, directly to the starter. you are simply replacing the column starter wire with one from the push button switch. only thing is you will still need the key so you can switch the ignition to 'on' for all the lights, radio, etc. i did this to an old trail rig i had and it did just fine. and don't forget to keep a spare key in one of those magnetic boxes you can hide somewhere in your truck.
good luck with this, and Welcome to TRS!

I would suggest>>>

Use a power source that comes on with ignition power and run your NEW wire to the starter solenoid on your wheelwell. This way you still need the key to start it and this also serves as "anti-theft" also, so don't show it to everybody & their brother.

I did this to a VW Bug years ago, as I lost the key, so I put a toggle in for igniton power & a momentary toggle for the starter.

Good Luck & be SAFE!!!

Is there a way to use no key at all to turn on the radio, lights, etc.?

I'd really like it to be all in one button, because I could easily make a switch to for ignition and a button for starting but I think it would be really cool to have it all in one button. Kind of like a newer nissan does. Although I don't know if theres a way to do this short of a computer circuit or some super complex wiring.

How about a three way toggle? All left would start it then center for lights and such and right would be off?? I just thought of it dont even know if its possible...

Sounds like a ton of work for zero benefit. You could just leave everything on, and install a battery cutoff switch in the cab but....why?

lol if I put a key as the switch that would be exactly what I have now.

And as for the tons of work for zero benefit? I think It will be cool, unique, and I will never have to worry about keys again.

That's the thing. It's not really unique, as it is done all the time. But frankly it is totally useless on a daily driver. If you are worried about the keys just take the key off the ring and leave it in. Doing all that just to have a "race car" pushbutton is silly.
