The 5.0 V8 swap is about to happen with the help of allnpt0. I found a donor vehicle last night for $750. The build thread is in the sig as of this morning. I am really excited about this.

Hey hoosier1104, do you know what kind of fuel economy you get with your 3.0? It would be neat to compare the fuel economy after the 5.0 swap. I feel the 5.0 is a pretty good engine on fuel, I used to have an F150 that got about 17 mpg, pretty good, imo.

They don't even get that good of milage in a car...

Most half tons I have heard of get mid teens, I would expect maybe upper teens in a Ranger.

Well I currently get around 17-19 if I keep my foot out of it. I think on my portion of the banner run I averaged around 21-22. But that was pretty much all highway between 65-70 mph.

I could see 25 MPG out of a 5.0 Ranger.

Light truck, big engine, be nice to the throttle, high gears. There you go.
