Why do people keep saying not to use ATF?
my owners manual specificly says mercon V ATF for the power steering. what gives?

You are supposed to use ATF. Whoever told you otherwise is silly.
I'm running P/S fluid in mine. Far as I'm concerned, there's no difference. But Running it is up to you.

I switched to clear p/s fluid when the unit started leaking bad...my friends didn't get as mad when the clear fluid puddle on their drive-way...
