I replaced the hardware on my rear drum brakes on my 93 2.3 and the wheel cylinders. I went to bleed the rears and nothing came out. So I checked the master cylinder and had good pressure there. Theres an electronic thing on the drivers side frame rail and I couldn't get any fluid to come through it, so now I only got front brakes. The dealer said it was a proportioner valve and cost $314.42, and it was a fairly common problem. Should I spend that much to replace It? Any ideas?

I guess it's a fairly common problem on RBVs. Theres a hundred different names for it. Proportional valve/ ABS Modulator Valve/ ABS Hydraulic Unit. It's 114 at autozone, so I mite get it there

Same truck, same problem, found an almost new one at a boneyard for $15. Well worth your time.

I yanked mine out cause I dont like a brake nanny, worked fine when I pulled it out.

came out of a 91 4x4, if you want and its the same you can have mine for 15 bucks and shipping.
