Project: Stable DD

If I would have scheduled earlier in the day, it would have been $50 less.

Sent from the garage of the never ending projects.

I didn't see it posted yet, but the "U" in the VIN designates a regular gasoline 3.0, while the "V" indicates the engine is flex fuel.

That would make sense since mine has the flex fuel logo on the tail gate.

Starting to think a 4/5 drop is in store.

Monthly stat input:

Miles Driven: 1421
Fuel Quantity: 78.148 gallons
Fuel Efficiency: 22.18 mpg
Distance Between Fill-ups: 284.2 miles (I try to not let it get below 1/4 tank)

I am going to do this so if someone has a question about 3.slow fuel efficiency, they can come here or people can point them here.

Monthly stat input:

Miles Driven: 3006
Fuel Quantity: 150.376 gallons
Fuel Efficiency: 22.06 mpg
Distance Between Fill-ups: 300.6 miles

Axle question: I am going to be doing a 4/5 drop. Plan is as followed, Expo 8.8 w/ 3.73 ls, DJM 4/5 drop kit, new shocks all the way around. Since the Expo is a LU setup, no need for hangers but what axle code should I look for a D4 code? What other parts should I source while I am at it as well?

Bolt in (after flipping the leaf pack bolt) hook up brake lines, check pinion angle and drive off.

Most 3.0s came with 4.10 so your mileage could be effected slightly. Lower rpms don't mean better mileage either, the engine could be struggling to keep you up to speed you want....assuming you are 4.10 already.

3.73

It currently has a 7.5 under it. Axle code is 86 which is a 7.5 w/ 3.73.

I understand that. But your gear ratio is what you need to look at. My dad has a 98 extend cab 4wd 3.0 auto with a 7.5 with 4.10s.

The 3.0 is a dog when you change things like tires size, gear ratio, etc...

Just saw the 3.73.

Then you are good. The flanges shoulf be the same size. Putting the expo 8.8 in would be like installing a flip kit on the 7.5.

You will be 3/4 inch wider on each side so take that into mind if you go wider on tires and rims.

Dustin has 315s and if he went with an explorer axle, he will be rolling the bed finder wells.
