Project: Moose-Knuckle

The jeep t/case uses a speed sensor that just replaces the speedo cable. You might be able to use a sprocket from a ten speed bike as a tone ring if welded to the flange on your t/case.

I've had nothing but shit luck lately.

I ordered a CV conversion from Tom Woods that allows one to run a u joint flange against the transfer case flange instead of cv. 100 bucks. Fuckers sent me one that didn't match the bolt holes on my t case. Then they told me the wrong part number for the flange I needed to mate with that. So I went to DTI in Denver, and they had the correct one in stock. Tom woods is sending me a replacement and shipping shit to send the other one back.

Then Checkers gave me the wrong U joint for my front drive shaft and the caps don't fit in the damn yoke.

It's like Karma wants me to stay in 2wd.

BUt I got my drive shaft built and I'm waiting on the correct flange and I'm gonna bitch at Checkers till I get the new U joint that fits. Bastards.

Then it's an issue if my hubs are still good.

Oh, but I did sell my old Jeep AW4 for 200 so I'm doing my steering with new TREs that fit, and 1.5" solid bar tapped for TREs so I'm not welding them on. Makes it shitty for trail fixes.

I fixed my death wobble by leveling out the rear witch helped with the caster. Also a pin fell out of the TRE on my passenger side knuckle and gave a bit of play leading to the DW.

I ripped a shock hoop off. The welds didn't brake, a fucking chunk of chassis came off with it.

I sold my tranny today. Picked up all my tres from Advanced and got the DADC discount.

I only ordered a tie rod end, but got the entire damn tie rod minus the adjustment sleeve and driver side TRE. So that was cool and helped cost. I also found an old spare TRE that fits perfect.

I just need a piece of bar drilled and tapped for the drag link.

I got the conversion u joint I needed to finish my front drive shaft. I used part of a 83 TTB Bronc front shaft and another part of a 79 SA Bronc. I didn't know the yokes were different sizes. So tomorrow I'm drilling out the holes to make my TOM WOODS PIECE OF FUCKING EXPENSIVE NON FITTING SHIT ADAPTOR fit and pickin up straps. I'll have my 4x4 back tomorrow!

I'm ready for rock zombies

Adam has 4 wheel drive back.We made a front drive shaft yesterday, fixed his hubs, and put new u-joints in.Still some vibration but adam's getting ready to start his new steering set up.There was more allowed flex but the rock wasn't big enough and it was muddy as hell out.

I got sick of dealing with jankety steering, couldn't afford a knuckle swap + high steer, got tired of having my truck down, so I dug in again.

So I'm in the process of going sprung under axle.

Oatmealman found me a cross member design. It'll re-vamp the 4 or so inches of height I'm loosing, and allow me to pull a leaf or two out of my thick pack, and run standard cross over easy as pie.

It's a piece of 3x6 square tube with .250" wall. It's got to cuts into it and it wedges up into the chassis. It's stout.

The chassis sits completely in the crossmember. Or vice versa.

Now I'm just down to making/finding hangers, and welding perches, and bolting it all back up. Oh yeah and running new tranny cooler hoses and a full fluid service.

But hell yeah.

The machine shop wanted 130 bucks to drill two holes in a piece of 1.5" bar and they couldn't tap them. I'm in 40 bucks now to a much better design.

It should be on the road again this weekend.
