Project Guinea Pig

Still looks like the pic at the top of the page. post 341 lol

The HP60 fell through so I'm pretty bummed aboot that. Starting the hunt again. I literally wasted a week on this particular axle. :annoyed:

Shitty!

I went through my outgoing gmails and the last person who got back to me inquiring about their craplist ad was the 97 Explorer back in August. About 11 emails in all. Idk if its gmail dropping the ball or the recipients but its pretty gross.
I even inquired about a2001 Dodge D60, drivers side drop low pinion CAD piece of crap (getting pretty desperate huh?) with no answer. I think I'll start responding to craplist ads from multiple email accounts, not just gmail ~ just spam them with responses and see if that works.
Don't get me wrong, I still love craplist. If you want a girlfriend, a kidney or an illegitimate massage its still the place to go but I need more and better answers from it. :dunno:

Edit: So the guy with the Dodge D60 LP CAD axle returned my email today. They're really a POS so I'm gonna pass on it (emailed him before doing due diligence on his variation of the D60) and hold out for a FORD HP Dana axle.
Not sure what this means about craplist posters now though. :icon_confused:

I'm gonna take some crap from you guys over this but I'm thinking of getting the Dodge D60 axle. Yeah its CAD and LP but I've been going through some threads over on Pirate and they aren't the worst thing ever. And I can get one for $200.
The CAD delete axle shaft (35 spline 4340 vs 32 spline stock) is $225, so's the short side one. http://eastcoastgearsupply.com/i-19358763-dana-60-00-02-dodge-35-spline-longside-cad-delete.html
Used locker: $400, New r & p $250, install kit: $125.
No hubs or lockouts. 70.5" wide. Has a 4 link, coil spring suspension mounting.

Every Ch*vy guy out there has had to live with a LP Dana so its not the end of the world.
Going to check it out today.

I bought the Dodge D60. $200.
Nobody wants these because of the CAD and oddball 32 spline guts but they're pretty easily remedied.
And really, these are the axles found under Dodge Cummins trucks.
Perfect fit for a guinea pig. :thefinger:

Its home now. It took 3 guys to get it not entirely in the Explorer. I had to get it out solo. More pix, this thread is useless without them:

This thing is a monster. Lug nuts are 15/16". No hubs, kind of like drive flanges, but not really. lol On 16" wheels so hopefully I can use H1 wheels. :icon_thumby:

A temporary home for this pig behind the other pig.

Now the "fun" part begins. Figuring how best to get the two pigs together without breaking my wallet.

Yes with dodge you can use an h1 16.5 wheel
