Any tips on welding that tube to the top of the differential? I don't have nickel rod, tried heating up the diff (don't think I did enough) and welded a pretty good bead where my tube hits my diff. Put a little heat on it after the weld to control the cooling and pinged the bead pretty good...but this evening when I came home it had cracked.

The housing is cast steel so just need to run good hot bead on no special prep or post heating is needed. That is only for cast iron. You will need a plate in between the tube and axle tube to keep it from flexing and breaking the weld.

I think part of my problem was that I didn't run a bead along the entire pipe. I decided to not get too antsy and get ahead of myself. Had a nice maybe inch long bead along the front side, didn't want to mess it up and it was time for me to pick it up for the afternoon. So I'm sure as it cooled, not having anything around the rest of the circumference didn't help out the scenario. I have some thin plate I can wedge between the two. Might make it a little cleaner when all is said and done anyway.

The kit will be for D30 but you could make 44 fit with it. I am picking up 1st Gen Explorer so I can test fit it. Thinking later this month of next month the prototype will be done. You will have to grind off the rivets holding the factory coil buckets on the frame the new bracket will go in place of the old with coil mount, track bar, and long travel shock mounts all built in. Then you just have to decide what size Jeep coils you want. I will offer with prebuilt arms or just the crossmember and coil buckets for guys who want to fab there own arms.

Are you talking about fw d44 or eb width? If it can be made to fit either one sign me up!
