hi all, i have been lurking around this site for some time. well i thought i would share what i have been up to. i use to have a cj w/ full width 44's out of a 77 waggy, and dana 18, 302, c5 (long story), dual fuel, great wheeler. well broken frame, rust & lack of room lead me to scrap the jeep. i kept the drive train and decided to build a ranger with it.
spec's
302
c5
dana 18
dana 44's front and rear w/ arb's and 4.88
high steer
63" w/ belltech
fornt leaf spring conversion
39.5X13.5 iroks.

i have both axels hanging and sitting on rollers.
i am enjoying this project and look forward to sharing.

Looking forward to seeing it get started. It doesn't look too bad in your picture.

i have been working on this for a couple months now, making slow progress in my over sized 1 car shop and a one man show, my son came home for a visit this last weekend and we allot done.

a few more. the bad, the previous owner had got happy with the blue saw.
the motor and transmission are ready to go in. but there is allot to do before that can happen.

progress,
next weekend a 16" tummy tuck
looks like 33oz of ground clearance

Comin along pretty good. I wouldn't mind havin the garage to work in either!

this week i shortened the frame 16". i took it from between the cap mounts. i will be mounting the back of the cab @ the cross member 16" back from the rear body mount. at the point where i cut the frame the rails were 1" narrower in the front section. that was perfect for 3/8" fish plates to lap the outside of the front rail and the inside of the rear. it went together surprisingly easy and squared right up. not shown in these pictures are the 3/16" flange plates top and bottom. next i will be boxing the rear section of the frame 18" back from the splice. i will also tie it into the boxing (1/4") the the PO slapped in.

finished the frame, and got the drive train put back in. time for cross member.
thanks to Ed for giving me a hand sunday.

Its looking good. I kinda wish i would have done a little more research with mine and went with the chevy 64in leaf springs and a dana 30 rather than what i went with on a dnan 28 becouse the JD rear leafs were expensive and i still need blocks to get them to 6in. And i need to swap my dana 28 out for the 35 hear soon becouse I am sure I am going to brake it running 35s lol.

continued

ready for fuel lines & pump, break lines, and then the cab.
having a good time, this is a fun project.
