Project 4x4 Commuter Mazda

Good idea...

When I call around for mount/balance prices I'll ask about lug nuts...I probably shoulda ordered them off the internet...but b/c I hesitated they won't be here for when I need them.

shipping probably wouldnt be too friendly either, 20 lug nuts aint light

it seems like we started carrying them right before i left autozone, but i cant remember what the thread sizes were

most tire shops and auto places have them.. i paid $1 a piece on mine last set i bought.

4wps was nice enough to toss mine in for my procomps wheels

When ordering my wheels online from 4WP they actually suggested black lug nuts but no joke it was like $40 more or something ridiculous....I thought to myself "i can do better than $40".

I'll probably just buy them from where ever I have the tires mounted and balanced.

Yeah I seen em at Autozone too, I just hope they have the right thread pitch and aren't crappy cheap ones.

ok, well i wouldnt get them from there then......i cant tell you how many times people came in complaining about our lug nuts when i worked there. the locking lugs were the worst, the "keys" were absolute pieces of shit, they'd always break or bend and be unusable.

I haven't heard very many good things about lug nuts from autozone. I have actually had very good luck with everything bought from autozone, but my friend can attest to the crappy lugs.

In fact they have replaced my draglink now twice free of charge because it wore out and it has a lifetime warranty. And my buddy got a free replacement for a CV jointed axle shaft one his grand cherokee. I know the guys that work at mine and they have always served me well.....I usually go there first for all my autoparts stuffs.....EXCEPT oil and filters.....I go to Wal-Mart for that stuff.

yeah, the warranty system there is pretty good, taking down your phone # to store the warranty. i had some rotors from pep boys that had a lifetime warranty, i called to see about taking them back b/c they were F'ed and the guy said it was my responsibility to keep up with the receipt. :thefinger:

i go to walmart for oil too, i can do it for $18 all day long. autozone employees dont get discounts on any oil (tranny, gear, motor, etc.)

last time i went to autozone it was $40 for 5 qts of oil, and an oil filter :shok:

but at wal-mart I can get a larger filter and 6 qts of oil for about $32. and thats the mobil 1 full synthetic stuff.

everyplace has its deals i guess

They have deals all the time at AZ on oil. I personally only get it when they have Valvoline on sale(5q&filter) $20

Yeah sometimes autozone runs good deals on oil and filters as a package. I usually buy all my auto parts from there...unless i need it asap then i buy from the napa/reibes parts store which is really close to my house.

Then I buy the consumables from wal-mart (filters, oil, grease, bulbs etc).

I might even get my tires mounted and balanced there...they do a lifetime mount/balance for something like $10 a tire....and wal-marts are everywhere which is convenient.

I'll call around though for prices when my wheels get here....sometimes the workers at wal-mart seem sketchy some im going to check prices from other large tire chain shops.

look in the little newspaper things they have when you walk in. every month there is a special on 5 qts. of oil + a filter. there's always a special on synthetic as well, they rotate, but it's usually $29.99 with a filter for it, you just have to keep checking.

btw, i was in autozone yesterday picking up some stuff and they do have black lug nuts, but i only saw one package, didnt catch the thread size

Yep I was there too Sat night.....The black lugs where the wrong thread pitch unfortunately, otherwise I woulda bought them.

One thing about Wal-Mart and Autozone is that they don't have the filter I am buying now (its the larger, longer filter from the TRS magazine). Means I have to go to Napa Autoparts as they are the only ones that have it in stock (their part number is a 1773).

First time my dad saw the filter he thought I was changing the oil on one of the company diesels and being a good employee....Wasn't till the next day when he was under my truck did he notices this ginormous white filter.......:headbang:
