Looks like it took a fairly good hit on the right front... but it sure looks better. Slow and steady wins the race... just keep plugging away.

Welcome to TRS...

Thanks and Merry Christmas..... Yes, the truck has a history..... I have restored vehicles since 1968 and more/less retired a couple years ago because of arthritis and took up fishing.... but when my neighbor was going to sell this I was tempted and bought it..... He bought it with 40,000 miles on it and it had been "totalled" by the insurance company ..... there was too much body damage to be cost effective to fix but the drivetrain/frame were all good.... he drove it for 66,000 miles without an issue.... He wanted $500 for it... salvage title but only 106,000 miles on it.... new alternator and fuel pump... runs great... awful tires..... and needs a lot of TLC.... which has begun.... I only work four hour days now because I am OLD.... but have put in 12 days on this Ranger..... and this one is on a tight budget.... and of course, Minnesota winter time so there are no swap meets to get great deals..... so it is CL and Ebay...... but I have done OK with those.... got a real nice topper for $100 for it... and this has the seven foot box so there weren't a lot of buyers for that..... This is the second Ford I have done..... first was a 1951 shoebox..... many years ago now.... I try to document all the builds with a digital camera and wore out my first one.... but it is fun to look back... I only kept one restored vehicle..... and wish I had room for all of them..... I hope I don't wear out my welcome here..... I can talk restoration all day long.... Again... Merry Christmas.. I am heading out to the shop now... for four more hours....

oh we are listening, and waiting for more pictures. :icon_thumby:

"OLD" is an attitude, or at least that's what I'm trying to tell myself.
I'm supposed to be enjoying a nice quiet retirement, yesterday I ordered more tools.

Merry Christmas, and keep on wrenchin'

You have to work really hard at wearing out your welcome around here - and at only four hours per day, that isn't likely to happen.
Welcome to TRS. I am a newcomer and old as well. And please do post more pics.

Welcome to the herd!
Yep looks like that Ranger took a few good wacks, but you're making good repair\restore progress.
What's under the hood: engine, tranny, 2WD\4WD...? Those specs in your profile+signature will help others answer questions.
Also retired several years back, it's the good life now; still stay busy 3~4 hours each day to keep from getting too lazy+fat.

Age is a number and old is an attitude, don't give up. Why does the right side of the hood protrude past the fender, do you have frame damage or did you just leave it that way to cut the cost of fixing the fender? If you did it to save money you can be an adopted Yankee.

LOL.... sounds like I am in good company..... Yes, old, but I never grew up...... and don't plan to.... Only worked three hours on it today and buffed out a rocker and finished the tailgate.... buffed out the cowl with polish first and then a polymer over the top.... Found mold and mildew all along the door weather stripping so bleached all that and then after cleaning some more, I found out that it was in a hail storm at least once..... I did get my small suction cup dent puller and heat gun and removed 90% of one dent in the side of the box.... and that was enough.... and my main success today was the driver's side headlight adjusters which also hold the assembly in place.... I took it apart yesterday and found the top adjuster broken to where the black lift lever deal has nothing to "catch" it.... part of the plastic is gone so there is/was no channel for the black slider to engage.... the previous owner held that in place with some very nice wire... .... I looked online for the part, found it... $63 on ebay... geez.... So I did a general internet search and the best I found was $52.... ain't gonna happen.... So I went out and used a blind fastener on the grinding wheel until this adjuster screw would fit through the hole and was strong enough so the black locking slider deal would engage it.... perfect..... you gotta get lucky once.... that made my day though.... question is, how bad out of adjustment are the headlights??? and I will address that next spring but I don't drive much at night anymore....

Will send more Ranger pictures as they become relevant.... but here is a link to my last few years of work... the blue sports car is the only one I kept....

Have a good one!

Dennis

Sounds like you know what you are doing, at least for the most part lol...I would say that's good progress for only 10 hours. I usually only get an hour or two before distraction happens, but keep chipping away! Cheers
