i currently have a 83 ranger with a 2.3 4spd. with 35in mud kings.... it needs a motor.. i have ran across a good deal on a 88 bronco ll 2.9 efi xlt 4x4 4spd.with 156k miles on it(great condition) i am wanting to take the suspension lift on the ranger and put it on the bronco along with the 35s. while the ranger was still running the lil 2.3 had a little trouble with the 35s, it would turn the over fairly well but bogged down abit..My qustion for yall is if i was to transfer the lift off the ranger to the bronco and put the 35s how much better would the 2.9 handle the tires? Modificaions to the 2.9 for more power??? Gear Ratios?? Just lookin of a little guidance in my new idea.. Thanks

bolt it on.....

456 gears min....i would prefer 513 if the 35's were to be on at all times....

cheapest way out is to run 31 on the street and save the 35's for trail adventures.

I have never changed the gear ratio in a truck before... so i don't quite know the effects of the change..but from yalls p.o.v the gear swap is the best bet for me??

Gears are your only friend with larger tires. If you're going through the trouble of swapping engines I'd put a 4.0 in.
