normal injector ticking, or normal lifter ticking?

2.9's tick because of poor oil cirulation. If you have a Fram oil filter on, I'd suggest you thrash it and put on a Motorcraft filter. Also pop open your valve covers and see if oil is flowing out of your rocker arms. If you have any dry areas along the shaft this would be part of your problem.
