so i thought that i had posted but i can't find it so.. let me begin,

a couple months ago, my truck quit.. i was pulled to a garage, after testing it they said it was the crank sensor, it wasnt.. so they then decided it was the pcm, i ordered a pcm, and was sent one that was supposed to work.. they sent me a ford one for a 2.3 and it was coded with F47F-12A650-BDC, the original was a F4PF-12A650-UB,,, ANYWAY it didnt solve the problem,, now two months later they found that if they grounded the cranksensor ground wire it would run, but it dont run good, i got it home with around 4 codes.. and they keep changing, now i get a 998, failure code, as well as tps voltage out of range, iac not what expect voltage.. and now they are 224,218, 222,121, all ignition /running codes,, now one thing is strange, it trys to start, and idles up then drops off and quits, now if i turn it off, the tach dont work right, but it runs down the road just fine,, if its turned off nd try to start it again, it backfires, stalls, turn it off no tach that is right, stays around 1k and goes down but not up past that, and i reved it up good..

any way im lost, and need a bit of help on this one,, no one local can check the pcm, but from whst i can tell it can't be the right one for my vehicle.. idk..

the pcm has continuity from the outer case to pin#20 is that normal?
any help or advice would be great.

also would the pcm be different with a tch in the instrument panel.. in ford, i added it without any issues with the original pcm, took the instrument panel in one chunk..??

I'm not an expert in the newer trucks. What you've described sounds more like one of the key grounds has failed badly. Maybe rust or gunk in the cable where it mounts? It's hard to tell without seeing it in front of me.

It's also possible the power line to the computer (aka power rail) is failing. Normally it's a bad ground.

Can't answer the question about the PCM, sorry. But I think it's very likely a bad ground.
