Wow, some people are just dumb. I bet that prius is worse for pollution than that diesel truck idling in the parking lot. If that guy had any sense he would have revved the engine and blew black smoke in her face and left. She was getting pissed because the guy's wife was in her face, well lady your the dumb ass that walked over trying to start trouble. Get in your little speed bump (I mean Prius) and go home.

I own a toyota tundra, but people like that make people think that everyone who drives xxx vehicle are assholes. Now that I have my bronco 2 I'm once again satisfied. Only reason I drive a toyota now is because at the time the new fords were well losing tailgates on the highway, losing gas tanks on the highway, ignition and electrical recalls every few months. The tundra had 1 unnecessary recall which I'm still laughing at. On the gas pedal BS which turns out just dumb people don't know that the right skinny pedal is the accelerator, if you press on it harder it goes faster. If anyone here has driving a new generation 2007-present 5.7L V8 tundra you know what I mean these trucks you hit the accelerator barely and its going faster than you expect it to. Anyhow...That lady had no business saying anything about what someone is driving, and it just so happens that many people make a living by driving a truck, if she don't like that then tough shit.

Oh the batteries never die LOL, yeah at last check that battery pack was like $4-5k and from what I've heard only lasts 3-4 years. That car would get amazing gas mileage if they left the 1 ton paper weight of batteries out of the damn thing.

From what I've heard from dealers they're replacing batteries left and right around 3-4 year intervals, which doesn't surprise me with all the drain on them constantly they won't last too long. If they just put a larger engine in it to handle the actual weight of the car and leave out all the unnecessary emissions junk it would probably get about the same fuel economy. Another thing I've heard to getting replacement tires for them is impossible there aren't any tire companies that make the tires on it, so owners are forced to replace them with standard tires which are much heavier so as soon as tire replacement occurs the fuel economy goes way down on them.

Odd, if I needed batteries for mine (if for some unforseen reason I had one) I would be screaming at Toyota to give me a free battery under the 100k mile 8yr warrenty rather than pay out of pocket for an aftermarket one.

Hybrid-related components for hybrid vehicles are covered for 8 years/100,000 miles. The HV battery may have longer coverage under emissions warranty. Refer to applicable Owner's Warranty Information booklet for details

Are you talking about the hybrid battery or the 12v battery? They have a small 12v battery like a normal car that is separate from the hybrid battery. I worked for a Toyota dealer for a couple years, and the hybrid batteries actually had a decent life span for the most part. It still doesn't change the fact that hybrids are retarded.

This is an internet myth that just won't die. First of all, that's not a Toyota factory. That's a nickel mine. Yes, Toyota purchases nickel from that mine for their batteries. However, Toyota purchases LESS THAN 1% of all the nickel produced there. The rest is sold to other industries that have nothing to do with hybrid cars. Furthermore, that mine has been there for over 100 years. How long have hybrids been around? You're blaming Toyota for damage that happened LONG before hybrids even existed.

As far as disposing of the battieres, they get recycled or resold as junkyard parts. Look under the hood of your truck. There's a *gasp* battery in there! OMG your truck is so bad for the environment!

Actually the battery has an 8 year, 100k mile warranty. And they have no problem lasting 200k miles. Last I heard new batteries from a dealer are less than $3k. Used batteries from a junkyard are only a few hundred.
