At a muffler shop how much should it be to open up my stock 2.25 pipes to 2.5 and put a nicer muffler on say A cherry bomb extream or flowmaster?

A lot more than if you were to cut out your muffler and clamp in a new muffler by yourself.

If you do it yourself, I see it costing you maybe $30 for the muffler, and $5 for the clamps. Add in another 5$ if you don't have a hacksaw/ :D

it will be about $50-$60 for an exhaust shop for just the labor, not including muffler cost.
its really easy to do yourself, and you'll save some time too, since you wont have to leave your truck at the shop.

the only upside to talking to the a shop is that you ll get the pipes welded. which will last long then clamping it, but i would honestly do it your self. i price out my truck getting done from the Y pipe back an i was suplying a magnaflow muffler an cat, an they still wanted 3 - 400 dollars to do it. so i just spent about $ 50 in straight pipe an 45 deg elbow, an like 6 clamps. an some hangers an did it all myself.

so in other words do it yourself. lol save yourself some money.

get the cherry bomb extreme and some straight pipe an a 45 degree elbow, some clamps an go to town lol. I recommend the extreme for 4.0s they sound nasty :)

fyi:

On my green 94 which I supplied the Dynomax 24222 Racing Only mufflers, the shop ran 3" aluminized pipe from collectors to the mufflers and then put dumps off the mufflers = $114

On my tow rig, 92 C2500, I supplied the mufflers, shop ran 2 1/2" aluminized pipe from exhaust manifolds to mufflers and then put dumps off the mufflers = $80

Depends on size & type of pipe..........I've always shopped around and have ALWAYS found Maxi Muffler to be the MOST EXPENSIVE!

Before those above, I had a 04 F150 XLT Heritage Edition Supercab, I had the shop install a Flowmaster 40 series that was single in - dual outlet, made tailpipes, and installed chrome tips of my choosin = $214
