Prerunner RC Build

dude this is sweet. i wish you would go into more detail this is sweet.

What do you want to know? I could definitely go into more detail but I'm not sure how much would be excessive and boring :D

Left some of the details in this post.

First up was getting the Hyper 7 center diff locked. I only need one output so obviously if I left it the way it was all the power would be transferred to the output with the least load. Here's what I came up with. Tore it all apart and happened to have the output shaft from an E-maxx trans and the spool that's used for shifting.

Then I just trimmed away at that spool with the dremel until it fit snuggly into the carrier.

Assembled it back together and now it's completed locked and I have 6mm outputs ready for drive shafts.

Had to trim more out of the interior than I thought but still not too bad. Won't be able to tell when it's all together. Bumper is a bit higher than previously mocked up but not still reasonable.

Used the dremel to open up the bolt hole slots in the motor mount to 4mm and also trimmed off the side so that it would fit flush on the cross member. Got the cross member together and made some mounts for the motor plate. They're still rough and will get cleaned up and braced.

Here's the transmission in place. Just need to make another cross member for the other trans mount.

I'm not really sure what the setup is called but it has one steering link running from the steering knuckle then to the pitman arm on the steering box. Then on the other steering knuckle a link runs from there to the other steering link and attaches to the link itself just below where that link is mounted on to the pitman arm if that makes sense? I thought about doing that crazy looking setup with the frame mounted brackets and there are like 4 steering links but it would be tricky to get all that to fit under the truck. The steering links I need to use are pretty big.

this is awsome, i thought you were full of $hit when you started this thread. great job so far

This project is coming together good. What scale is that 1/8th? This is really scale your putting your Sc10 to shame lol.

haha!

The truck is sold as a 1/6th scale but I measured it out and compared it to actual truck dimensions and it measured out perfectly to about 1/7.45 scale. So yeh roughly 1/8th.

The SC10 will run circles around this thing on the track though :D

Well since you are using a TIB setup, wouldn't it be cool to make a 1993-4 Front grille setup to be more year correct. :) Looks awesome! I think we need a Ranger R/C Section.

Can I just say that it was a 93-94 and then I modded a newer grill to fit? That would be WAY easier on me! :D

You should sent a picture into Rc car action readers rides when its done I bet you could win.

Now for some real progress!

I messed up and flipped the C-hubs the wrong way so the caster angle is wrong on them. I'll have to switch them back around but you get the idea. Everything went together great. Arms are just made from plastic for testing at this point. Worked out well because there are a few changes I need to make just to make assembly cleaner.
