I have a 2003 Ranger X-Cab XLT 4x4. I just bought a PA body lift that I'm about to have installed. Now i want to by fiberglass fenders and a new front bumper. I have some questions first though. What company is better, Fiberwerx or Glassworks? and what size bulge will look best (i want to run 35s)? I plan on regearing also. I do a lot of trailriding and some mudding, since I live in Ohio there isn't really any dessert areas for me to wheel. Just wondering what you all think is the best combination for what I plan on doing. Any thoughts are appreciated.

I have always heard good things about fiberwerx but either are good. 3"-4" would look good.

from the sounds of it tho, a body lift and a bumper don't make this a pre-runner. if you want to put fiberglass fenders on it, look for a mild bulge (around 3") and call it good.

some people will swear by glassworks, some by fiberwerx. i know more people who work for and promote fiberwerx, so i'm going to favor them. only thing i don't like is their new "TT" fenders for the ranger, but i like their other products.

I'm not so much trying to build a prerunner to race, rather just trying to get the prerunner look. There arn't really any deserts in ohio. I'm more into wheeling/trailriding. The two main reasons for the fenders are I like the wat they look, and I need the extra clearence to run 35s on 15x10s. I also plan on regearing to either 4.10 or 4.56 gears. I'm pretty new to this stuff. I'm glad for all the advice I can get on here.

If its just a looks thing than that's understandable. Fiberglass takes a little work to make it fit properly, no matter what company its from. Glassworks and Fiberwerx both make good glass that is built to last. Stay away from Trailer Products, their glass is more for racers. Its thin and cheap cost. Look into Hanneman also.

I would go with a small bulge even with off set wheels. Here's an old picture of my 99 with 4 inch front glass and off set wheels. Keep in mind it has a Camburg 5.5 kit on it which increases the track width approximately 1.5" per side.

4" still looked like bat wings sticking out the side of the truck.. lol..

which do u think will handle the trails best. i realize that if i smack anything hard enough itll dent or cracl, regardless of company. i really like 6in bulge, but im not sure if thats overkill. i just want something different. everyone around here has cranked tbars, add-a-leafs/shackles and a 3in body lift with 32/33s on 15x8s. i want something unique. i cant afford a superlift or dbr kit. so the fenders seemed like the best idea. i plan on also doing a 1in tbar crank to level. and some sort of aftermarket bumper. you all know more about this than i do. does anyone have pics of wat itd look like with 3in body lift and the fenders? thanks again guys, your input means alot.

Actually, to clear things up, heres what I really want to do. Let me know what u think, and if anyone could give me a close idea to what it would actually cost (I was thinking around $2500-$3000). I'm strongly considering leaving my ranger stock untill next september when I'll most likely have the cash saved up.

Fiberglass Front Fenders and Besides (not sure what bulge, but thinking 5-6in)
PA 3in body lift (already have, waiting till it warms up to install)
15x10 Wheels
35x12.5x15 All Terrain Tires (probably BFG)
Fabricated Bumper (probably find one used or have someone local fab me one)
Gears 4.10 or 4.56? Any good companys?

How much do you think the price will come to after painting and trimming the Fenders/Besides? considering their $700 for the set I believe? The Wheels I'll probably get off a buddy of mine and the tires I figured would be close to $1000.

I know I have tons of questions, I just wanna make sure my ideas arn't dumb. As i've said many times already, I'm new to this and need help deciding what to do (since everyday I see something different that catches my attention).

I'd reconmend a 3" bulge in the front. As for the bedsides, you can get a way with just pulling them (if you need help with this I can write you up something. I'd say get rid of the body lift but you will need it with the 35's. Do you have the proper drivetrain to handle 35's? Maybe look into 33's with no body lift and just crank the torsions for now.

I absolutely am disgusted with body lifts. The way I look at, I'd rather tub the firewall then have to use a body lift.. I have around 4.5" of lift in the front of my older Ranger and I cannot tuck 35's. So what am I doing? notching the frame and tubbing the firewall.. I like my trucks low. I prefer to get ground clearance from a larger tire instead of jacking my truck sky high.

im not a body lift fan either, but the cheapest suspension lift is close to $2000 for IFS rangers. Plus at this point itd be a waste to leave it sitting around. I ride stock through most of the trails in my area pretty easily. i'll have no problem anywhere around here with a 3in body and 33s. but i really want 35s. for now i'm probably just going to do the 3in body and buy my wheels and a friends old 32s. once i get the money saved up this comming summer i'll put the fiberglass/35s plan into action.

if you decide to run 35's you're definately going to want more than 4.10's or 4.56's for gears especially if you plan on doing any off roading. even as powerful and torquey as the 4.0L is you're still going to need a little more . i would say 4.88's or 5.13's

this gives you a general idea of your rpms but you have to remember that overdrive will lower your rpm's by about 20%

I 100% agree with AaronC!

Everyone in my city is rollin in f350's jacked 8 to 12" on 35's. Alls I did to get a prerunner poser was lift the front 2", bend up some tube bumpers, cut the bedsides behind the tires, ditch the tailgate and slap on some 33's and BAM: a poserrunner that i can add to and build up over time.

check out woolworth motorsports? they have a poser kit for a-arm rangers that fits 35's with no B/L

Why thank you.. I think woolworth only sells Dixon Bros Kits and then hack installs them.. :annoyed:

thanks guys. thats what others were saying on another one of my threads. I guess i'll go with 4.88 gears. but i already have the 3in body lift ready to install. also, i don't have the kind of money for dixon bros, or i'd buy the kit in a heart beat. I'm not a big fan of superlift, so If i ever get a suspension kit it will be the DBR.

Don't forget, shipping glass is expensive.
And buy a chunk of aluminum for under that gas tank.
