I have a 95 Ranger, extended cab, 4x4, STX trim with a 4.0L, automatic. I also have a 97 Explorer 5.0L AWD Limited. Going to be doing the engine and transmission swap soon, want to keep the Ranger's transfer case. Been reading the tech articles and forums, but not really finding everything I'm looking for. Before I start, I want to have all the stuff I need to knock this project out without having to stop and start again several times, or have unwanted surprises popping up. From what I understand, I will need to buy:

95 Mustang 5.0L dual sump oil pan (M-6675-A50) and pan bolts
95 Mustang 5.0L motor mounts
Remote oil filter
01 Explorer lower radiator hose
Advance Adapters trans tail housing and output shaft (part number ???)

Any other parts I'm missing?

I'm not sure what to do about driveshafts. Will the old Ranger shafts fit?

I would like to buy a set of Ford Racing headers (M-9430-E52) if anyone has them for sale.

Doubt I'll go through the trouble, but has anyone swapped out the steering gear for the steering rack?

Thanks for any input!

Advanced Adapters part number 50-8404 (and currently out of stock) + P/N 716057 AOD Shaft Kit to fit an AODE Transmission.

It is supposed to leave the transfer case in the OEM location.

You can use a 1356, 4406, 205, 208, or an atlas tcase, all of which dont require the expensive AA adapter, or tearing the trans apart to swap the output shaft. Don't use the mustang mounts, go with the plate mounts instead. Headers are discontinued, the torque monster headers are the best bet, otherwise use the 98+ cast manifolds, they flow much better than the stock tubular headers...

The transmission slips a little going into overdrive, so I'll probably have to tear into it anyway. I think I've read of fitment issues with F150 cases. Is it really a problem? What exactly are the "plate mounts"? Are they the mounts you make from combining and modifying the old mounts? What is the problem with using Mustang mounts? Sorry for all the questions, just want to be prepared and make good informed choices. I reckon I've got Ford Racing headers on the way. Found a set online a couple days ago. I appreciate all the advice!
