anyone know who carries prebent brake line for a 97 ranger ext cab 4x4?

Ford might, doubt any aftermarket companies do

Closest fit to your truck is from Classic Tubes, FT1092-OE. That is for a 4x2 std cab short bed. Not sure anyone else in after market does them. I know from past dealings with them, they will bend up a set if you send them your existing. Expensive!

bending new lines yourself is relatively painless--you probably won't get them exact, but close enough. however, flaring the ends takes some serious patience, and cussing, and patience...

And the proper tools. I never had any trouble, and I made double flare lines for some British cars. Just be sure not to crack the (single) flare otherwise you'll have leaks.

Very true on a decent set of tools. Bought cheap the first time around and my double flares either split or were uneven...mind you, the splitting was likely due to me over tightening.

The copper-nickel line is much easier to shape (and flare) than steel, and it won't rust. If you are replacing the lines from the master cylinder, check but you are likely going to need to make a bubble flare for those ends instead of a double. Youtube has a video of a guy that made a bubble using a double flare tool - works like a charm if you follow the prescribed method.
