The apparent shooters name is Maj. Malik Nadal Hasan. He was shot and killed and two others were captured.

From what was reported. The person that shot the Maj. was an off duty Police officer and he was killed right after wards. That is what I heard on the news, but that itself could be wrong.

the major was the primary shooter hes dead. two yet to be id'd men were secondary shooters. they are in custody but its not released who they are all thats known is all three gunmen were US Soldiers

I was also wondering if it was "terror" related.

According to this mornings Wall Street Journal, it said he was upset about having to go to Iraq.

That's the same horseshit that pissed me off so much after 9/11. I remember hearing about quite a few Americans in the military that didn't want to go to war in Afghanistan, saying crap like they just joined the military for the education/money.

If people are too cowardly to potentially have to defend the country - THEN DON'T ENLIST. Just because it may be "peacetime" when someone joins, doesn't mean that can't change in an instant. IMO, if people aren't joining because of pride and respect for their country first and foremost, then they're joining for the wrong reasons. Anyone who is actually shocked that they may have to actually do the job they signed up to do - defending America by any means necessary - needs to STFU.

I'm wondering why they don't send people with a middle-east background first, and keep them in a separate unit....if they want to take out ten or twenty men and become martyrs, let them take out other potential terrorists...
