power window upgrade

F'n A cotton. Take your doors off.

Worst part of smoking with the doors off is a bit of cherry in your eye.

Or trying to spark a bowl on the highway. The incense sticks in the cup holder gives it away. :icon_twisted:

i just picked up new doors for my truck today that are power everything (mirrors locks windows) and my truck has manual doors. im not sure what year truck the doors are off of.

ill be looking at it tomorrow hopefully. if i learn anything ill let you know

edit: just noticed the dates of the previous posts.

Don't you pay no nevermind to the dates. You keep going and see what you find and post it up anyway. I don't have a/c in my 3.0 and have been thinking of doing this conversion myself. Never though to look into using Explorer parts before - dunno if they'd be compatible or not. Didn't know about the GEM module, either - figured i'd be able to gut any '93+ Ranger door and be done with it. :dunno:

well the doors i got are off a '94. i dont want to switch to power so ill be swapping all my manual stuff to the new doors. i assume this should be fairly simple

thus far ik the only wires that go into the doors on my truck are the wires for the speakers. im not sure how the wiring is on the inside of the new doors, but they have a single connector coming out of the door into the cab. tomorrow i shall attempt to find out what it looks like on the inside.

well i pulled all the electronics outta the doors today. broke the power lock actuator for the drivers side in the process (didnt know how it was connected).

no idea if my truck would have the wiring available in the existing harness to plug the 16 pin connector than ran from the door into the cab. that controls the mirrors, locks and window controls.

Not sure... i i did on my grandpas was run a power wire to the battery, with an inline fuse, and grounded to the door, windows work even if the truck is off. but it works, and rather simple.
