I've been searching thru the forums and seen that some people say the power steering box and such weigh around 40 pounds....Is this accurate?

I am swapping in a 5.0, and that's going to add quite a bit of weight to the front already, even with the battery installed in the bed.

So I guess what I'm asking is if the weight of the power steering is worth easier steering, or if lighter manual steering (which I have now) is a benefit.

I figured one less pump for the motor to turn is free HP, and I'm not afraid to strong arm the steering wheel in parking lots and such.

Thanks for any opinions!!

don't gain weight....keep the biceps pumped up...keep the h.p. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The manual steering box is no lightweight either but it's less crap to have problems with. Your wife might not be impressed if she ever has to drive it though.

LOL the old lady doesn't even like to ride in it, let alone drive it herself!!

Thanks for the opinions!! I'm leaving it as-is for both simplicity and I guess that's really the only reason!
