Power Steering Problem

I just recently have been having some problems with my power steering on the Ranger. Every turn is extremely shaky and every bump jogs my wheel uncontrollably to where i have to come to a stop for it to stop shaking. I just recently bought my truck and it does have a rebuilt front end, I just filled the fluid which wasnt very low to begin with, but I'm assuming just flushing the power steering fluid a few times may do the trick? Or any other suggestions?

Does it do this while in motion? This all sounds like an issue with the front end. I know you said it was "rebuilt" but it just doesn't sound right...Does that mean that they replaced all bushings, Ball joints, ect?

If it was the power steering, I would whine pretty badly. You might even feel a few pulses in the wheel while turning. I believe a rack and pinion acts the same way.

Are your wheels simply unbalanced?

Try checking and tightening your nuts & connections on your tie rods. There should also be a u-joint in your steering, IIRC. Maybe those caps could be loose?

Sounds like air to me too. Those can be a pain to get the air out of. A vacuum brake bleeder on the reservoir is the best way to get it out.

I got the same thing(shaking at high turn angles) today after I had to push my truck out of a parking space and turn it to jump start it... the air explanation makes sense to me... Should I just get a power steering service at the same time as the oil change I need? would that get everything happy again?
