Ok, when I first started my project my biggest obstacle was the power steering bracket. I spent a lot of money and had many failed attempts at coming up with something that worked. I have a different motor in my truck now and the old bracket doesn't line up and shredded my brand new belt. So Im going back to the drawing board. Pretty sure nothing bolts right up so Im going to have to be creative. Was wondering if I could see some pictures of what other people have done. I have a 1991 XLT 2WD. And I think Im using the transdapt mounts 9736.

Some brackets require 3/16-1/4" spacers to make them sit square to the head.

Using a March style aluminum thing.

I C-clamped a piece of angle-iron to the 2.9 V6 crankshaft pulley that was long enough to be C-clamped to the P/S pulley so that the P/S unit would be lined up correctly.........then I made brackets from spare bracket pieces----tacked the pieces together good......& welded everything(bracket pieces) together. I only had to use a couple flatwashers to shim the welded bracket so that the P/S pulley lined up just right.

....hope that made sense......

It took half a day to accomplish...but it worked great...

(a couple years later...I swapped in a V8.....LOL)

What I came up with. Some turnbuckles and the bracket the came on the motor rearanged a little. Its the right depth, which is what my problem was, and now it's vertical like its supposed to be. Before mine was titled about 30 degrees off center which wasn't really a problem I guess.

So you are twisting your bracket to pull it straight?

Eventually it (or a bolt) is going to break on you. You need a shim on the backside of the bracket somewhere.

Nope. Nothing is twisted? I'll try to take some
Better pictures of how its put together. That picture actually just has a 1/2" box wrench showing where the turn buckle is supposed to be, lol. Its on there now I just didn't take a pic yet

So then aside from acting like a really goofy washer what are the turnbuckles doing to improve the situation?

There is only one bolt holding the bracket to the block. The turn buckles are stabilizing it. My friend who has 8 and 9 sec mustangs recommended I use them.

For anyone else looking to use that same Mustang aluminum bracket that the pump bolts to-

There is a Ford part, commonly know as the "AC delete" bracket, that is available for $40 new. Show here on an old version of my engine, the two long bolts go through the two holes on the bottom of the pump holder.
