My credo
If you expect the worst and hope for the best, you're already planning for failure.
So on my "wish list" of upgrades to my 96 XLT supercab is powered and possibly heated mirrors. I know that I have found power movement mirrors to upgrade to, but I don't think I have come across the heated mirror upgrade. Has any one else seen these for my generation of Ranger? I'm pretty skilled with electrical, so doing some mods to make it work wouldn't be that much of an issue. Sure would be nice to have that heated feature to assist with defogging during the cooler months.

No; I haven't either.

Have you considered using the heated mirror option that was used on the first-generation trucks?

Power mirror upgrade??

:)

I just added heated mirrors myself. I used an Explorer radio bezel with the defroster switch and used Ford's diagram and wired it through a GEM. You could bypass the GEM by adding a timer. I used Explorer heated mirror glass because the Explorer mirror frame won't fit the Ranger. I have the 2006+ Ranger mirrors. My 1996 was prewired behind the dash for power mirrors. I had to add the door harnesses from the junkyard and then get the switch and switch door bezel also. I also added power windows and locks. If you look at the connectors behind the kick panels you may find the mirror wires also there, as I did.

Great info. Very much appreciated. Now I have a foundation to start with. Might not be in the nearest of future that I do the mirrors, but now I'm not feeling so blind. Thanks.

Let me know if you need any help. I know you don’t wanna change the bezel since you got that one from me. Ha ha.
