I have a 1999 Ford Ranger XLT 2.5L. The issue I'am have is when I'am driving along in 4th gear and need to slow down I downshift into 3rd gear, well when doing so the engine seems like its going to stall out and the battery indicator dips down but it regains its self back to normal operating condition. This is the only time this occurs. So I stopped downshifting into 3rd gear and everything works fine. This has never happened before and this has been going on for a few months. Well the things I have done to it so far is: New battery, battery terminals, new altenator, new sparks plugs gapped at .044, new spark plug wires, fuel filter, air filter, pulley, and drive belt.

What gives? Maybe a new timing belt? tensioner? battery cables? plz help

I doubt its timing belt, tensioner, or battery cables. It has to be something specific about what happens when you downshift and hit 3rd. A bad wire maybe, gets pulled a certain way when the trans moves during the downshift. That's a good one.

hmmm... yea maybe so thanks for the info

Check your belt tensioner and serpentine belt!
