Okay lets talk about economy, gas is freaking outrageous and so I'm wondering what MPG everyone is getting with their V8 rangers?

like post year, single or ext. cab, 2 or 4 wheel drive, engine/trans and if its EFI gear ratios and tire size.

my 88 single cab 2x4
Engine, stock 87 roller 302 with 600cfm holley with aluminum 4 barrel intake
Trans, 94 T-5 trans with a MiniClutch and flexplate
gears, stock 3.73
tires, 225/55 R16
MPG=19 on highway running 65

My 88 single cab 4x4, sas, 6 inch lift
Engine, 91 roller block all stock except converted to HO with an 85 mustang cam, Edelbrock 289 performer intake, edelbrock 500 cfm
Trans, 84 np435 all stock with 10 inch clutch
Gears, 3.73
Tires, 32x11.5x15r bf Goodrich M/T

MPG= 7-8 in town, 10 highway

Right now I have plans to go efi. I also blame my poor mileage on my low gearing due to my transmission choice.

With a 1992 5.0 HO in my 1997 Supercab, I was getting 25-26 MPG
That's with a T5, 3.55 gears, 275/295 tires, cone style filter, tri-y headers, SD ecu.

In current form it's about 22mpg mixed.
GT40 heads, B303 cam, 1.7rr, MAF ecu, 24lb injectors... Just trying to think of the thinks that may affect mileage.

Stock 4.0 got 16-20 mpg. My current winter truck (3.0 auto, 2001 Supercab) gets much worse than the 4.0 did.

SVT has a 96 explorer 5.0 swap, high flow air filter, stock manifolds, 3" exhaust into 2 chamber muffler, 456 gear, 37" iroks, 5500 lbs getting 18 mpg...

ST has a 99 explorer 5.0, 410 gear, 32" tires high flow replacement filter, 5400 lbs getting 19 mpg. Just made a trip pulling a 6x12 trailer, averaged 15.38 doing 70 mph, turning 2500 rpm. Thinking of going 355 to get the Rome down for better mpg...

SVT

My junk is stock H/O motor, AOD, 3.73s being run with a 92 speed density truck computer and harness in an 86 ex, cab 2wd getting between 19 & 20 and I'm not easy on it.

I just sold a 98 Explorer 5.0 4R70W 3.73 and 33s Got 16 mpg all day long. Of course it was redlined a lot too.
