I am thinking could a person take the upper intake off of a 4.0 cut it just before the intake curves towards the drivers side. then get an alluminum 'box' with the appropriate ports cut out then put a supercharger on it and then cut any other holes needed for MAF, TPS, IAC, etc.

Even if a person had access to a mig welder, die grinder and a cutting torch. they could make this at home. Maybe others have thought of this but I am just trying to simplify it and get some thoughts flowing.

then of course a TUNE. which is always a pain for the older OBD1 ECM's.

I've said it before, and I'll put it here again. It's not worth the trouble to supercharge a 4.0 OHV. I've done it. I had an M-62 on my 1994, big injectors and throttle body, and properly tuned with an SCT chip. I convinced myself I did it for the cool factor more than the power. But the cool factor wears off, and you end up with a less-than-fast truck that you could have put a 5.0 in for the same or less money, and a whole lot less hassle.
Just my personal experience. Yours may differ;)
