Possible to add middle seat belt (lap belt only) to 60/40 split bench?

I am looking at adding a middle lap belt for my 89 regular cab with a 60/40 split bench seat for the times I have to give 2 people a ride in the cab (but for less than 5 miles) ... Just to make it a little more legal.

Has anyone here made this modification? I know the regular bench seat has three belts, and I am curious how the middle belt anchors to the floor. Does the middle seat belt share the inside floor bolts with the driver and passenger belts or does it have its own anchors?

I understand the 60/40 is essentially bucket seats with a little extra cushioning connected to a frame on the driver's side, but I don't feel like going to a full bench if I can help it.

my '87 60/40 has one...did you dig around to make sure its not shoved up under the seats?

Every Ranger I have had witht the 60/40 seat (total of 3) has had belts for the center seat.

Both my 84 and my 86 have middle belts there on the solid bench, and my 99 has it there on the split bench. Can't imigine it coming from the factory without. As they said dig around and make sure it isn't hiding in there somewhere. On all three of these trucks, well the older two atleast (I think the 99 is the same), the middle belt shares the mount bolts with the outer belts.

Now I know why ...

I saw the previous owner of the truck today and asked him about the seat belts. He said he put in new seat belts after the other original ones were no longer retracting. He told me they wanted an arm and a leg to install OEM belts, so the new seat belts in the truck are made by some no-name company called "AutoFriend" -- and the middle seatbelt was not replaced in the process.

So now I have to decide which brand to use when installing the new middle seat belt. I am assuming I can mount it on the same anchors as the existing seat belts.

Also, which side is the female part of the middle belt on, the driver's side?
