I'm nearly certain this has been asked before, and you can berate me all you want for not searching hard enough but, will the AWD case from an Aerostar mate to a Ranger transmission?
I've got a manual 4x2 B4000 that I would like to convert to full-time AWD (for my upcoming move to Northern Michigan). Engine is the Cologne 4.0 so I'd be looking for a 4x4 trans that was behind another Cologne 4.0, but only if it will accept the case from the Aerostar. Other option would be to find the transmission and the case from the Aerostar, provided it came from behind that same generation engine.
I seem to remember reading something about it being possible but you would end up losing the use of the e-brake?
Any helpful hints would be much appreciated.
I don't want to just convert to a selectable 4x4 scenario. I want All Wheel Drive (or as much as it can be w/ whatever the split is), all the time, without having to buy a Subaru.
Thanks guys...
