You dont hear much talk about them, and all they are is full of benefits!

1.Lifts axle higher off the ground
2.Widens stance
3.Lower's overall gear ratio

Why wouldn't some one want a set?? And Also where would someone go abouts finding some?

A. they wont fit our axles

B. probably run you about $10,000

$$$COST$$$. but then again built one tons on 42s ain't cheap either
Ive seen a jeep on portals walk right up some of the nastiest terrain where other built rigs struggled

I talked to axletech, The MSRP is $8,495 for the vehicle set. This includes 4 boxes, 2 knuckles, 4 rotors, 4 calipers, 4 sets of pads, 2 adapter plates for the 14 Bolt axle, and 2 custom axle shafts that can be cut to length. I am building inventory right now and the GM 14 bolt parts have just been completed. We could ship within 2 weeks. Please take a look at our website at www.axletech.com/motorsports for more info. Feel free to call me during the week and we can place your order.

They'll last a lifetime and make you instantly badass. I'm thinking seriously about them. A 14 bolt D60 combo with 4.10 gears will have an end ratio of 6.15. And you dont have to worry about pinion being to small. Plus it'll take all the strain off everything else. So what if they weigh 75lbs a piece. thats a small price to pay.

I think It'll be worth it. the only downside is the price. But the price will never go down if no-one buys any.

What about just using Unimog or Volvo portals? If you get the 406 Mog axles they are super strong and can be had for around 1-1.5k a set. Set them up with coils and link suspension and your set!

still debating on spending that much. Jury's still out on that one.

I already have my axles. And before i ran mog axles, I'd run duece and a halfs.

Helping a buddy finish off a swap with 404 mogs into a 90' something toyota...

You can get mogs cheap, but $$$ is in brake/8lug conversion as well as pinion conversion due to torque tube design.....he's all of 5k deep in his, and don't forget your traction bars due to the rotational torque!

On 47" LTB's, 4.3L/NV4500/NP203-205

leafs on those axles is such a bad idea.... People have a hard enough time building a 4link to hold up to the extra force.

and what did he do for pinion conversions?

He bought them with the pinion conversion and 8 lug conversion already done for $3500, and he's building his own brake setup as far as mounts and calipers go. He's also adding anti-wrap bars front and rear, and the leafs wouldn't have been the original choice for portals but it was 90% done on a D60/14B combo before he purchased these axles.

7.56 gearing and factory lockers front and rear with a 5"+ gain in ground clearance is nice though.

I have worked on MANY unimogs. 404.1's, 406's and 416's. They are cool trucks. I think the truck itself is 50% of the coolness factor.
