any of you that have used Por 15, have you used the ready prep stuff that they recommend?

any other prep steps?

AJ

I've used their "starter kit", and it worked great. It comes with marine clean and metal ready. Those were the only measures I took prior to applying it. This stuff is rock hard now (I did it about 2 years ago).

This was before. I put a screwdriver right through it.

This is the day after. When I took it in for paint, the guy told me with his experience with POR15, this would last forever. No way a screwdriver is going through it now.

My buddy redid the entire floor in his Bronco, and didn't prep it prior to POR, and it's held up just as good. But that was new metal.

I have used it. Did the entire interior of my FSB with it.

That said, it is the same as all the other rust encapsulaters I have used.

My buddies old man painted the inside of the bed on his '56 chevy pickup with Por15 about 30+ years ago. When he was ready to restore the truck last year, it wouldnt sand off, we had to grind it off with a grinder.

Can't answer about the Por15, I used Rust Bullet...less prep work and that stuff is great.

I used it to undercoat my frame. I prepped it by grinding the frame, then sprayed and wiped it all down with purple power, used a leaf blower to dry it, and let it completely dry overnight.

I was thinking of getting some for my axle swap. My problem is finding the most convenient source to buy it from. Seemed like amazon was the best I could find, and I don't want that coming through the mail when it's 100+ out!

I bought my truck from my boss and a few years prior he por15'd its hood and roof, didnt last too well, it was all flaked in spots, but the spots where it wasnt flaking it was a BITCH to get off

It's supposed to work better out of direct sunlight I believe. A coat of paint would fix that.

Yeah it says on their website that it doesn't stand up well to UV exposure. They have some stuff that you can use over the por15 if its gonna be in the sun, but I think you have to reapply it every year or two. I think they also have another version of the stuff that holds up to the sunlight a little better.
