The first time i used the 4x4 a couple months ago it gave me a problem of disingaging. The other day i pulled the wheels & hub to regrease. No parts seemed broken. We got a lot of snow today & i just tested 4x4. A freind verified all wheels spin in the snow. The ? I have is it normal to hear poping when i turn from the front? Will it be safe to drive in the morning. Thanks

A Poping sound? Is that when it gives a benediction before it send you home on foot? Really in all seriousness popping noises could be hubs, the U-joints in the axles or some other thing binding when turning. Without actually being there to see and hear it is difficult to diagnose. Does it have automatic or manual hubs? Mine made some really bad noises when I first put her in 4 wheel and the inside of the automatic hubs was completely shot and my u-joints in the axle shafts were shot. Along with bad diff seals and several other things like bad ball joints. You will have to start ruling them all out one at a time until you can figure out where the noise is coming from. The automatic hub issue on mine was solved by installing a set of Warn manuals.

Get it checked out. Poping isn't good. Some noises will just stop the car. Others will cause you to lose steering or brakes. :D

Could be sway bar end links. I deleted mine. Sway bar/links better articulation and no more popping

theres not supposed to be grease in the hubs. get the grease out and lube with trans fluid.

best way i found is to soak in diesel for an hr and repeat til the diesel dont turn black. shake it and swirl it or whatever it takes. but get the diesel out by swishing hot trans fluid in it.

worked for me

Were you rolling or stopped when disengaging? When stopped it can be hard to engage or disengage. Turning on a less than slick surface can result in really strange noises and humping and jumping of the front end. 4X4 is to be used ONLY on slick surfaces.

I would try to jack the car up and shake my front wheels top and bottom and side to side and see if there is any play in tie rods, ball joints, and bearings. Probably wont make the popping sound but if one of the components has play then I would start there.
