Are polkaudio speakers any good? My old speakers are blown, so I'm looking to replace/upgrade them, but I am having a hell of a time finding speakers that will fit in the stock speaker housings. These are close enough that I can make them fit, but are they any good?

Thanks

Polk is good, Infinity Kappa are way better though and they make them in the stock 6x8 configuration. I have them in my ride and they are the $hit.......spendy, but way worth it!

i disagree.

polks are awesome for the money. i do not like infinity as there tweeters are harsh and crackly.

id recommend polk, pioneer, boston acoustics, or alpine

those are my favorite "budget friendly" speakers.

there are better, but they are expensive.

BTW check out sonic electronix for audio stuff. there price is really hard to beat and there customer support is awesome.

Not sure what youre pushing Kappas with to get harsh and crackly tweeters considering the crossover. If you are refering to Infinity Reference there is some truth to that, same as the lower end Polk db which are low quality as well. And, all my years around car audio I have only ever met one person who has ever recommended Pioneer speakers.....you. You get what you pay for with audio!

I don't know much about the ones you linked but I have a set of Polk db571 in the doors of my truck an they sound awesome.

you should find a mount to put some 6.5 speakers sound travels in a circle not an oval

I have had a pair of Polks in my dash for close to 10 years, I love them. :icon_thumby:

Between them thumping in your face and a pair of I think 6.5" Kenwoods thumping in the small of your back you can really get into a song in my steel cab even without an amp...

My mud tires tend to drown out the details anyway, and now the V8 won't help any either.

ive used the reference and the kappas in some of my cars and personally do no care for them.

and you can ask many people on this forum. pioneer makes good speakers.

no there not audioque, rainbow, focal, or diamond audio quality. but for there price at 100.00 a set they make a dang good product.

and i understand you get what you pay for. you will NEVER see me rocking dual, jensen, sony, lanzar, sound storm, or lightning audio crap in any of my cars or trucks.

ive been doing audio work for quite a while. i know what im talking about.

I'm not sure how relevant this is, but I had Polk 6" 2-way speakers in the doors of my ZX2 and was very happy with them - even powered by the stock HU, which definitely was keeping them from performing at their best.

I went with Pioneer in all four corners of my Ranger, but I'd buy Polk again. If I were to see some Polk speakers with good specs on paper, I would trust that they'd be solid performers.

Just my 2¢.

Ahhhh something we agree on..... how I wish I had the cash to throw into the wind and end up with a Focal system......but who doesnt!

if you get polks you might want to put an amp on them some of those speakers distort because they need more power

Thanks for your input guys. I went with the Polk Audio DXi 5x7 for the rears and the DXi 5.25 for the fronts. To my untrained ear they sound great, very clean, crisp sound, with very little distortion at the higher volumes. They are only being powered by my head unit, which is a Pioneer DEH-P5000UB(Link), at this time. I will have to try and figure out how to power them through my Infinity Basslink, or get rid of the Basslink and get a real sub/amp setup. But I'm happy with my setup for now.
